Kolhapur: In a strong statement underlining the significance of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar asserted that these polls are not merely about village sentiments but about shaping the nation’s future. Pawar’s remarks came during a show of strength by the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Kolhapur, where he joined Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to support the alliance’s candidates, Sanjay Mandlik (Kolhapur) and Darhysheel Mane (Hatkanangle), as they filed their nomination papers.

“This Lok Sabha election is not an election of villagers, but of Bhavaki (the future),” Pawar declared, urging the alliance partners and supporters to look beyond parochial considerations and strategize meticulously for victory.

Pawar’s statement aimed to elevate the discourse surrounding the elections, positioning them as a pivotal moment in shaping the country’s trajectory rather than merely local or regional issues.

In a symbolic gesture during the event, Pawar got his ears pierced, a traditional ritual associated with auspicious occasions and new beginnings.

Addressing a public meeting, Pawar slammed the opposition parties for their relentless criticism of the work being carried out under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He accused the opposition of attempting to oppose Modi’s efforts to provide benefits to people at the grassroots level.

“They have no leader, so the opposition keeps criticizing Modi,” Pawar said, dismissing concerns raised by the opposition about the state of democracy in the country as baseless attempts to create confusion.

Pawar also highlighted the unconditional support extended to the Grand Alliance by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), underlining the unity among the ruling coalition partners.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde echoed the sentiment of a resounding victory for the Mahayuti alliance, declaring, “Supadasaf was done in 2014 and 2019, and it will be Supadasaaf (complete sweep) now too.”

Shinde also sought to allay concerns about any potential changes to the Constitution, asserting, “As long as the Sun and the Moon remain, the Constitution will not change.”

As the high-stakes electoral battle intensifies in Kolhapur, the Grand Alliance seems determined to present a united front against the opposition’s criticism, banking on the popularity of Prime Minister Modi’s governance and the unity among its constituent parties.
