In Front of Her Children, Hyderabad Woman Burnt to Death by Husband

Hyderabad: A deeply disturbing case of domestic violence has come to light from Hyderabad’s Nallakunta locality, where a young woman lost her life after being allegedly set on fire by her husband inside their home. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, sending shockwaves through the neighbourhood.

The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Triveni, was living with her husband Venkatesh and their two minor children. Police officials said the couple had a history of marital discord, largely stemming from the husband’s repeated suspicions about his wife’s character. These tensions reportedly led to frequent arguments and periods of separation.

According to investigators, Triveni had earlier moved to her parents’ house due to harassment but later returned after Venkatesh assured her that he would mend his behaviour. However, the situation reportedly deteriorated again on Christmas Eve when a heated argument broke out between the couple.

Police said the argument turned violent when Venkatesh allegedly poured a flammable substance on Triveni and set her on fire. During the chaos, their young daughter attempted to rescue her mother but sustained injuries while intervening. The accused is said to have fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Neighbours noticed flames coming from the house and rushed to help, rescuing both the woman and her daughter before alerting authorities. They were shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Triveni dead on arrival. The child suffered minor burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. The couple’s son was not injured.

Hyderabad Police have registered a murder case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and arrested the accused. He is expected to be produced before a court shortly. Statements of the children have been recorded as part of the investigation.
