Jammu and Kashmir police announced the apprehension of a couple on Monday, who had been allegedly posing as IPS and IAS officers, conning people under the pretext of offering employment opportunities. The Srinagar police, in a Tweet reported by the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), revealed that the couple had defrauded numerous individuals by making false assurances of jobs, transfers, and other favors.

The individuals have been identified as Manmohan Ganjoo, son of the late Girdhari Lal Ganjoo from Baghat, Srinagar, and his wife Ayoush Koul Ganjoo.

“Manmohan Ganjoo, a suspended police personnel, was found in possession of laptops and mobile devices containing multiple counterfeit transfer and appointment documents, including his own fraudulent IPS induction order. The police also seized illicit cash, jewelry, and other incriminating items from their residence,” stated the police in a tweet.

The police have registered FIR no 73/2023 under sections 170, 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code at the Sadder police station.

“Three victims have come forward thus far, reporting fraud committed by this deceptive couple. The public is urged to stay cautious and avoid falling victim to such fraudulent activities. Any victims are encouraged to report any scams involving this ‘conman-couple’,” emphasized the police—(KNO).
