“If Calling Out Criminal Candidates Is ‘Anti-Party’, Then What Is Pro-Party?” — RK Singh Explodes After Suspension from BJP

Patna: Former Union Minister and veteran BJP leader RK Singh launched a blistering counterattack on Saturday, hours after the Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party suspended him for alleged “anti-party activities.” The action came soon after Singh publicly questioned the BJP’s candidate choices during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, triggering turbulence within the NDA fold.

Addressing reporters after his suspension, Singh said the party leadership had offered no clear explanation for the charge levelled against him.

“They spoke of anti-party activities, but never told me what they were,” he said. “I replied to their showcause, and even sent my resignation to JP Nadda. But I still want to know — what crime did I commit? Saying that people with criminal cases shouldn’t get tickets? How can that be anti-party?”

Singh doubled down on his earlier criticism of the NDA’s candidate selection, claiming the alliance knowingly fielded individuals with tainted reputations. Without naming them directly on Saturday, he reiterated his position that nominees facing serious allegations damage the party’s moral authority and public trust.

“This is about the soul of politics,” he said. “If speaking the truth and opposing candidates with criminal histories is considered rebellion, then what message are we sending to the country? My comments were for the BJP’s integrity — not against it.”

The former minister hinted at a deeper cultural drift within the party, suggesting that leaders who speak up for ethical politics are being sidelined, while those who chase quick electoral gains are rewarded.
“If questioning wrong decisions makes people uncomfortable, then perhaps they should introspect,” he added sharply. “Staying silent in the face of criminalisation of politics would be the real anti-party act.”

Singh’s suspension, coming right after the NDA’s landslide victory in Bihar, has sparked intense speculation about factional tensions simmering beneath the celebratory surface. His outburst signals that the post-election political narrative may not be as unified as the numbers indicate.
