The political temperature in West Bengal surged on Tuesday as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee intensified her attack on the Election Commission of India and the Bharatiya Janata Party over the ongoing voter list revision exercise.
‘Logical Discrepancy’ Row Triggers Fresh Controversy
Addressing a rally in Pingla, Midnapore, Mamata Banerjee questioned the use of the term “logical discrepancy” under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, stating that such a term is not officially recognised by the Election Commission.
“If I am after something I will continue with it. I moved the Supreme Court and several names got added in the final voters list. I will fight till the end. The ‘logical discrepancy’ was not there in Bihar,” she said.
Mamata’s Sharp Political Attack on BJP
“I have not seen a ‘dirty party’ like the BJP. The BJP has snatched everything from you and voting against that party would be your only way to take revenge,” she said.
She further added, “My brothers and sisters are my greatest asset. The source of my strength. The backbone of everything we have built together over these fifteen years.”
Call for Unity Ahead of Crucial Elections
Banerjee urged people across communities to unite against the BJP, reinforcing her party’s campaign message.
Expressing confidence, she said her government would return for a fourth consecutive term under the “Maa-Mati-Manush” banner.
Amit Shah Hits Back with Strong Warning
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah countered the allegations during a roadshow, expressing confidence in BJP’s victory.
“After BJP forms the government, all syndicates of Trinamool Congress (TMC) will be closed and strong actions will be taken against all those who have looted the people,” he said.
