New Delhi: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a sharp attack on the Centre in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, demanding answers from the government over the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran Valley. Speaking during the ongoing debate on national security and Operation Sindoor, she questioned the government’s failure to prevent the attack and raised serious concerns over lapses in public safety.
“Yesterday, the Defence Minister spoke for an hour,” Priyanka said. “He spoke about terrorism, about protecting the country, and even gave a long history lesson. But one key thing was left out — how did this attack happen?”
Referring to the shocking killing of civilians in Pahalgam, she questioned the absence of security forces in the area at the time of the attack. “Why was not even one security personnel present there? Is the safety and security of Indian citizens not the responsibility of the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Defence Minister?” she asked, holding the top leadership accountable for the breach.
