Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar :The Government of Maharashtra and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) officially announced the successful completion of the state’s Guinness World Records™ attempt under the Magel Tyala Solar Pump initiative. Maharashtra achieved an unprecedented 45,911 solar water pump installations within a single month, marking one of the world’s largest and fastest renewable irrigation deployments.
Among all participating companies, Shakti Pumps (India) Ltd. emerged as the largest contributor, installing 8,846 solar pumps during the audited record period—the highest by any vendor.
The Guinness World Records™ attempt was audited between 27 October 2025, 12:01 AM to 25 November 2025, 11:59 PM. Out of nearly 50,000 installations, 45,911 pumps were officially validated through vendor-level installation checks, two independent audits by solar experts, final verification by the Centre for Energy Studies and Savitribai Phule Pune University. Today’s announcement marks the culmination of this rigorous, multi-stage validation process.
Shakti Pumps’ contribution reinforces its leadership in India’s solar pumping and water management sector. With the highest domestic market share under PM-KUSUM and more than four decades of engineering innovation, the company continues to shape the country’s transition to clean-energy irrigation.
Responding to the announcement, Mr. Dinesh Patidar, Chairman, Shakti Pumps, said, “It is a proud moment for Maharashtra and for all of us at Shakti Pumps. Being the largest contributor with 8,846 installations reflects our engineering strength and the trust placed in us. This initiative has empowered thousands of farmers with reliable, clean-energy irrigation, and we are honoured to support an achievement now recognised on a global stage.”
He added, “Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, we have installed more than 1,50,500 solar pumps so far. Each installation is not just a technological upgrade—it is a step toward self-reliance for farmers, reducing dependence on erratic power and costly diesel pumps. India’s solar mission is among the world’s most ambitious”, said Ankit Patidar
Mr. Patidar further said, “India aims to install 500 GW of solar power by 2030—one of the most ambitious targets globally. At Shakti Pumps, we are proud to be key contributors to this national mission. This Guinness World Record attempt showcases the scale at which India can adopt renewable solutions when technology and intent align.”
He added, “Our contribution reflects Shakti’s commitment to expanding solar irrigation nationwide, and we will continue to work with government partners to strengthen sustainable rural infrastructure.”
Officials at the event highlighted how the scheme is transforming agricultural livelihoods: Reliable daytime irrigation through solar-powered systems, free household electricity at night due to reverse-feed solar architecture, reduced farming costs and improved productivity and large-scale solarisation of farmlands aiding clean-energy transition.
The initiative represents a major step in Maharashtra’s drive toward sustainable agriculture and long-term rural transformation.
