In the midst of a political storm brewing in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu has embarked on a crucial journey to the nation’s capital to confer with the Congress High Command. His mission: to present a comprehensive report on the state’s current political landscape and engage in deliberations concerning potential candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The significance of Sukhu’s visit to Delhi cannot be overstated against the backdrop of escalating political tensions in Himachal Pradesh. Speculation swirls as to whether Sukhu is poised to reconsider the disqualification of six Congress MLAs, a move that could potentially reshape the political dynamics of the state.

Addressing queries regarding the potential reinstatement of the rebel MLAs, Chief Minister Sukhu remarked, “If one realizes one’s fault, then that person deserves another chance,” underscoring a willingness to explore avenues for reconciliation within the party.

Earlier, Himachal Minister Vikramaditya Singh assumed the role of mediator between the Congress High Command and the disqualified MLAs, emphasizing that the final decision rests with the party’s central leadership. Singh hinted at the prospect of some rebels returning to the party fold, citing the fluid nature of political alliances and the precedent set by past political maneuvers.

The disqualification of the six Congress MLAs, who defected during the Rajya Sabha polls, by Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania set the stage for a political showdown, amplifying the stakes of Sukhu’s diplomatic mission to Delhi.

Meanwhile, Minister Vikramaditya Singh has embarked on a separate journey to Delhi to meet with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Singh’s visit aligns with a prearranged meeting and underscores the state government’s efforts to secure additional funding for infrastructure projects, particularly in the aftermath of recent floods.

During his recent visit to Hamirpur, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled projects worth Rs 4500 crore and pledged an additional Rs 200 crore for the enhancement of roads and bridges, urging the state government to submit a proposal for further assistance. Singh emphasized the urgency of submitting the proposal before the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect with the announcement of Lok Sabha poll dates.

“The union minister had asked for the proposal, and I will submit it for clarification before the MCC comes into effect. Our efforts are focused on restoring and repairing roads damaged by recent floods in the state,” Singh affirmed, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the state and central governments to address pressing infrastructure needs.

As the political landscape in Himachal Pradesh continues to evolve, Sukhwinder Sukhu’s diplomatic mission to Delhi and Vikramaditya Singh’s strategic engagements underscore the intricate interplay between regional dynamics and national politics, shaping the trajectory of the state’s future.
