The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a significant breakthrough in a case involving the alleged duping of job seekers by a former Chief Depot Material Superintendent (CDMS) of Central Railways. The accused, who held the position at Parel Workshop, Central Railway, Mumbai, has been apprehended for his purported involvement in issuing fake appointment letters, medical examination directives, and training correspondence under the guise of the Divisional Personnel Officer (DPO), Central Railway, Mumbai.
The CBI initiated action against the accused based on a complaint, which alleged that the accused public servant promised to secure employment for the complainant’s two sons as Junior Clerks in Central Railways. In exchange for this promise, the accused allegedly extracted a substantial sum of approximately Rs. 10,57,400 from the complainant, falsely representing it as various fees such as security deposits, medical examination fees, training expenses, and syllabus fees. Despite issuing fraudulent joining letters and training orders to the complainant’s sons, the accused failed to facilitate their recruitment.
Following the arrest, the CBI conducted searches at three locations, including the accused’s official and residential premises. During the searches, incriminating documents such as fake offer letters, training orders, and bank transaction slips were recovered. Additionally, evidence indicating that the accused had defrauded more than 20 job aspirants was also seized.
The arrested accused is currently being presented before the Competent Court in Mumbai, while the investigation into the matter remains ongoing. The CBI is committed to unraveling the full extent of the fraudulent activities and bringing all perpetrators to justice.
