Mumbai: Bid by banned pro-Khalistani group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) to hijack the on-going farmers’ agitation over the contentious farm laws at the borders of New Delhi has lent some credence to Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Raosaheb Danve’s recent remarks of alleged involvement of China and Pakistan in the agitation. The Union Minister had face ridicule for his comments from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar.
Recently when asked about Union Minister Raosaheb Danve’s comment about the alleged involvement of China and Pakistan in the farmers’ agitation, NCP chief Sharad Pawar remarked “Some people do not have the sense of what should be said where and how. We should not pay attention to such comments.”
TheNews21 investigations have revealed that indeed SFJ had indeed written a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 17 earlier this year soon against the backdrop of the bloody stand-off at Galwan between Chinese and Indian armies. SFJ had not only empathised with China, it even sought its support for its illegal Referendum 2020 in Punjab.
The Centre had on January 8 earlier this year vide a gazette notification banned SFJ declaring it as “unlawful association”. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had even ordered attachment of immoveable properties in Amritsar of USA based SFJ legal advisor Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, under section 51A of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967. The Interpol has already issued Red Corner notice against Pannun and other members of SFJ.
Eyebrows were raised as SFJ posters sprang up at the venue of the farmers protest, promising the agitation farmers from Punjab and Haryana of 1 million US Dollars if they supported them, arguing that their cause was the answer to anti-farmers bills. The SFJ had even offered to help the farmers if they had defaulted on their farm loans. Needless to say there were no takers for the SFJ offer.
What raised the hackles was the involvement of Pakistani and SFJ sympathisers in Twitter Hash-tags over the farmers’ agitation.
But the bids to hijack or interfere in the internal matters of India and in the on-going farmers’ agitation have not stopped there.
On December 3 earlier this month, 36 Members of Parliament from United Kingdom, of which 30 belonged to the UK Labour Party, wrote a letter to UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab urging the UK government to pressurise India against enacting the farm laws. The lead signatory to the letter is Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, a Labour MP for Slough in London.
The other notorious signatories to the UK MPs letter include – Labour MPs Debbie Abrahams, Afzal Khan, Apsana Begum, Ian Lavery, Steve McCabe and former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbin.
It may be recalled that earlier this year in February, Debbie Abrahams was denied entry into the country by the Indian government. So she went to Islamabad and met Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi for which she was purportedly paid 31,000 Euros for berating India.
British Labour MP from Coventry North West Taiwo Owatemi had to tender an apology on December 13 for having supported the SFJ.
If that was not enough India had slammed recent controversial comments of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for commenting on the farmers’ agitation in New Delhi. He was prompted to make the comments as his cabinet does include colleagues – Navdeep Bains, Bardisn Chagger, Harjit Sajjan and Amarjeet Sohi.
