Patna: A heated confrontation erupted between protesting BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) aspirants and political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor in Patna on Sunday night. The students, who had gathered at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, were demanding a re-examination for the 70th BPSC prelims after alleging irregularities in the exam process.

Tensions soared as the police intervened, using lathi charges and water cannons to disperse the protesters. Amid the chaos, a video surfaced online showing an exchange between Kishor and the protesting students. In the video, Kishor could be heard angrily saying, “Abhi kambal mange ho humse aur humse hi netagiri dikha rahe ho” (You are asking for blankets from us and showing us attitude).

The protesters raised slogans against Kishor, questioning his whereabouts during the police action. As the situation escalated, a case was filed against Kishor and approximately 600 unknown protesters, including members of his Jan Suraaj party. They were accused of inciting unrest and creating law and order issues.

Patna’s SP City, Sweety Sahrawat, explained the police’s response, stating that the protesters had pushed the police, prompting the use of water cannons. “We requested the students to vacate the place, but they didn’t listen to us. We also told them they could present their demands, and we were ready to listen. They then pushed us, and that’s when we used the water cannon,” Sahrawat told ANI.

The BPSC has announced a re-test for 12,000 affected candidates at a single center. However, the aspirants are demanding a full re-examination. As the protests intensified, demonstrators breached two police barricades near JP roundabout, clashing with security personnel. The police responded with baton charges and water cannons, leading to chaotic scenes in the state capital.

The incident has sparked widespread debate, with Kishor and his supporters facing criticism for their handling of the situation. As the protests continue, the future of the 70th BPSC exam remains uncertain, and the demands of the protesting students continue to intensify.
