Srinagar: Ahead of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) PD Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad (JKPS), chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office (DPO) Handwara.
The meeting was attended by Commanding Officers of 21 RR, 32 RR, 30 RR, and 15 RR, as well as Commandants of the 26th and 27th Battalions of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the 92nd and 162nd Battalions. The gathering focused on ensuring foolproof security arrangements for the smooth and incident-free conduct of the national event.
During the meeting, detailed security measures and strategies were presented by the attending officers. Key issues discussed included crowd management, traffic regulation plans, and intelligence inputs. Officers outlined their action plans to enhance security in their respective areas of responsibility, with an emphasis on protecting public spaces and maintaining law and order.
SSP Handwara emphasized the need for a high level of alertness and increased area domination to counter any potential threats from anti-national elements (ANEs). He assigned specific tasks to the officers and directed them to execute their plans with precision and coordination.
Special attention was given to addressing potential threats to ensure the celebrations proceed without disruption. The SSP instructed officers to take stringent action under relevant legal provisions against individuals or groups attempting to disturb the peaceful atmosphere. He also stressed the need to monitor and curb the misuse of social media platforms by those seeking to incite violence or provoke youth.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the Republic Day celebrations in the region.
