Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has landed herself in a legal soup as a film producer accused her of a Rs 2.5 crore fraud.
Ameesha and her business partner have been accused of duping the film producer of crores of rupees.
The actress has been booked under sections 420 and 120 of the Indian Penal Code and has also been summoned by a local court.
According to a report in India Today, a filmmaker named Ajay Kumar Singh registered a case against Ameesha and her business partner Krunal, accusing them of fraud, intimidation and cheque bounce.
In his complaint, he claimed that Ameesha and Krunal took Rs 2.5 crore from him for the making and promotions of a film titled ‘Desi Magic’. The duo had allegedly promised to return all the money along with interest once the film was completed, however, the film never saw the light of the day.
Singh went on to state that when he demanded the money back from Ameesha, she blatantly refused. After months of of delay, she finally handed him two cheques of Rs 2.5 crore and 50 lakh in October 2018, but both of them bounced.
A Ranchi civil court has now issued a warrant against her and Krunal.
