New Delhi: A devastating storm tore through several parts of Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi-NCR region on Wednesday night, killing at least 50 people and injuring dozens more in its violent wake. The extreme weather, marked by gale-force winds and lightning strikes, disrupted lives, damaged homes, and uprooted infrastructure across 21 districts.

According to official figures released by the state administration, the storm and associated lightning strikes have taken 50 lives in the past 32 hours—17 women and 33 men. While relief efforts are underway, the sheer scale of the destruction has overwhelmed local resources.

Hardest hit were the districts of Noida, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Meerut, and Baghpat. Streets were littered with fallen trees, power lines lay twisted and torn, and thousands of homes suffered damage. Daily life came to a grinding halt in several areas as emergency crews worked round the clock to clear roads and restore essential services.
