Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched the year-long ‘Vande Mataram 150’ campaign to mark the 150th anniversary of India’s national song, Vande Mataram. The initiative aims to rekindle patriotic spirit, promote linguistic diversity, and unite citizens through a series of cultural and digital celebrations across the country.

Speaking at the launch event in Patna, Bihar, Shah said, “From today, the whole nation will sing in unison the mantra of Vande Mataram, which will be heard across the country. The implied feeling in the song will be shown across the nation.”

The campaign will unfold in multiple phases, featuring local translations of Vande Mataram and mass participation events. A digital movement under the hashtag #VandeMataram150 will also accompany the initiative, encouraging citizens to engage online through music, art, and short videos dedicated to the national song.

During the event, Shah, joined by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Vinod Tawde, also took the ‘Swadeshi Sankalp Patra’ pledge, reaffirming India’s commitment to self-reliance and cultural pride.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the central commemoration of the Vande Mataram anniversary at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. Modi unveiled a commemorative stamp and coin, launched a dedicated digital portal, and participated in a mass singing of the full version of the song.
