New York/Georgetown: Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora, part of a multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, is currently on a diplomatic tour across five countries—USA, Guyana, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil—aimed at spotlighting Pakistan’s state-sponsored terrorism and bolstering international support for India’s counter-terrorism stance.

The delegation began its mission in New York, where it visited the 9/11 Memorial—symbolising shared global grief and solidarity in the fight against terrorism. Deora, who represents Mumbai—a city that bore the brunt of the horrific 26/11 attacks—called the visit “deeply personal.”

“The pain of terror transcends borders,” Deora remarked, reaffirming India’s right to retaliate against terror threats without yielding to nuclear blackmail.

In New York, Deora also engaged with top academicians, journalists, and business leaders at a reception hosted by India’s Consulate General. He expressed gratitude to Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan for organising the gathering, calling it a platform that “brought together a dynamic and diverse group of stakeholders.”

The delegation then traveled to Guyana, arriving on the eve of the country’s 59th Independence Day celebrations. Deora lauded Guyana as a “true friend of India” and appreciated the country’s strong civilisational and cultural ties with India. The Indian diaspora in Georgetown turned out in large numbers to welcome the delegation, underlining the warmth of bilateral relations.

A significant highlight of the Guyana visit was the meeting with former President and current Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo. Deora thanked him for his hospitality at the Presidential Home and for his unequivocal support for India’s stance on terrorism at international forums, including the United Nations Security Council.

The visit is part of #OperationSindoor, an outreach initiative aimed at uniting voices globally against terrorism and reinforcing India’s strategic and diplomatic postures in international fora.

As the delegation moves forward to Panama, Colombia, and Brazil, the mission continues to focus on forging parliamentary friendships, expanding India’s diplomatic footprint, and gathering international consensus on the threat posed by cross-border terrorism.
