Mumbia: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting that a fresh western disturbance will impact north India starting January 4, bringing with it rainfall and snowfall across several regions. The disturbance is expected to bring widespread precipitation in the days following its arrival.

According to an IMD statement released on Sunday, the western disturbance will begin affecting northwest India from the night of January 4, causing scattered rainfall and snowfall in the western Himalayan region from January 1 to 3. However, the most significant weather changes are expected to occur between January 4 and 5, when widespread rainfall and snowfall are forecast for the region.

IMD scientist Soma Sen Roy confirmed to PTI that the current western disturbance had already moved away from the region, which led to the subsiding of cold wave conditions across north India. The cold wave, however, continues to persist in the western Himalayan region.

As the new disturbance approaches, residents of north India can expect colder weather and possible disruptions due to snow in the hilly areas. The IMD has advised people in affected regions to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
