Former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Singh’s recent disclosures shed light on the shadowy undercurrents that permeated Ansari’s tenure, raising questions about the nexus between power and criminality.

Jailed at Banda jail, Mukhtar Ansari’s sudden demise at the age of 63 sent shockwaves through Uttar Pradesh. Suffering a heart attack while in custody, Ansari was swiftly transported to Banda Medical College hospital, where his passing was confirmed on Thursday evening. Reports indicate that Ansari had complained of vomiting and subsequently lost consciousness, ultimately succumbing to cardiac arrest.

In a startling revelation, Singh peeled back the layers of political interference that shielded Ansari from legal accountability. Singh’s assertions, made a day after Ansari’s death, implicated the Mulayam Singh government in orchestrating a systematic campaign to protect Ansari from legal repercussions. Recounting his own ordeal, Singh highlighted the coercive measures employed by the government, including forced resignations and transfers of high-ranking police officials.

Hailing from a lineage of patriots, Singh’s steadfast commitment to justice transcends familial legacies. His confrontations with Ansari underscored his unwavering dedication to upholding the law, despite facing daunting odds. Singh’s tenure as DSP was marked by advocacy for legal action against Ansari, culminating in his resignation amidst political pressures.

Following his resignation, Singh ventured into politics, contesting elections from Varanasi and later joining the Congress party. Despite electoral setbacks, Singh’s commitment to public service endures, manifested in his advocacy for organic farming and animal conservation. Residing in Lucknow, Singh’s legacy serves as a beacon of integrity in a landscape rife with corruption.
