Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs from Uttar Pradesh on Friday, emphasizing the importance of using social media to communicate directly with citizens about government initiatives and development projects. The meeting took place during the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.
Modi urged legislators to concentrate on their responsibilities and ensure that people are aware of the progress made at both state and national levels. “We work continuously, but our schemes and achievements do not reach the people as effectively as they should,” he said, stressing the need for better communication.
He also contrasted the NDA’s work with the Congress party, noting that the latter often makes promises only during election periods and fails to deliver sustained efforts. Modi encouraged MPs to counter misinformation and actively highlight the NDA’s accomplishments.
Uttar Pradesh, which will hold assembly elections in 2027, sends 80 members to the Lok Sabha. In the 2024 general elections, the BJP-led NDA secured 36 seats in the state, with BJP holding 33, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) 2, and Apna Dal (Soneylal) 1. Prime Minister Modi himself represents Varanasi, a seat he has held since 2014, underscoring his enduring political influence in the region.
