The 40th GST council meeting is underway through video conferencing. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman is chairing the meeting in North Block. Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur, Finance Ministers of States and UTs and Senior officers from Union Government and States are also present in the meeting.

The GST council is meeting today for the first time after the nationwide lockdown and the council is expected to discuss the revenue shortfall and the compensation to states.
