Alibaug: A massive fire broke out on a fishing boat off the Alibaug coast in the early hours of Friday, triggering a dramatic rescue operation for nearly 20 sailors onboard.
According to reports, the fire erupted between 3 and 4 a.m., with visuals showing towering flames engulfing the vessel in the middle of the sea. While the exact cause remains unknown, preliminary investigations suggest a possible short circuit may have triggered the blaze.
The boat, owned by Rakesh Maruti Gan from Sakhar Akshi village, was located six to seven nautical miles from the shore when the fire broke out. Locals, along with the Coast Guard and Navy, launched a swift rescue operation, bringing the sailors to safety.
