Mumbai: A massive fire broke out in a truck carrying gas cylinders near Nature Park, Sion-Dharavi Link Road, late Monday night, leading to multiple explosions. The incident occurred between 9:45 PM and 10:00 PM, within the jurisdiction of Dharavi Police Station.
According to reports, the truck was parked along the roadside near the footpath adjacent to the park when it caught fire. The flames triggered several gas cylinder explosions, causing damage to three to four nearby vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) declared it a Level-1 fire at 10:06 PM, which was upgraded to Level-2 at 10:07 PM. A total of 19 fire engines were deployed to douse the flames, successfully bringing the situation under control.
Senior officials, including inspectors from Dharavi, Mahim, Shahunagar, Kurla, and Vinoba Bhave Nagar police stations, along with Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of Police from Zone 5, were present at the scene to manage the situation.
Authorities have identified the truck driver, and efforts are underway to detain him for further investigation. Police, Traffic Police, Fire Brigade, and ambulance services were mobilized to ensure swift action.
