The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with other party leaders, for alleged violations of the Public Property Act. The case, currently under trial at Rouse Avenue Court, is scheduled for its next hearing on April 18.

The FIR was filed following a directive from Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal, who acted on a complaint lodged by Shiv Kumar Saxena. Saxena provided visual evidence alleging that AAP illegally put up large posters and banners in the Dwarka area, defacing public property. The court observed that such unauthorised hoardings not only degrade the city’s aesthetics but also pose safety risks, citing previous incidents where falling illegal banners resulted in fatalities.

The case has been registered under Section 3 of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007. Apart from Kejriwal, former MLA Gulab Singh and ex-councillor Nitika Sharma have also been named in the FIR. The Delhi Police has submitted a compliance report to the court, confirming the registration of the case.
