Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday responded to the stabbing attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, calling it a “serious” incident, but strongly refuting claims that Mumbai is an unsafe city. Fadnavis emphasized that despite the alarming attack, Mumbai remains the safest mega city in India.
“Mumbai is the safest mega city in the country. The incident is serious, but it is wrong to brand the city as unsafe,” Fadnavis told the press, as quoted by PTI. His comments came in response to widespread media reports following the attack on Khan, who is currently undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Lilawati Hospital after being stabbed by an intruder in his apartment around 3 am on Thursday.
Fadnavis further assured the public that the government is taking the attack seriously. “The incident must be taken seriously. The government will take steps to make Mumbai safer,” he added.
Mumbai Police have already provided details about the incident, including the nature of the attack, and are investigating the motives and intentions behind the assailant’s actions. Fadnavis urged the public to trust the police’s efforts, stating, “Police have given you all the details regarding this. What kind of attack is this, what is actually behind this, and what was the intention behind the attack is all before you.”
