California: A U.S. Navy F-35 stealth fighter jet crashed near Naval Air Station Lemoore in California on Wednesday evening, prompting a rapid emergency response. The pilot ejected safely before the aircraft hit the ground around 6:30 pm local time, officials confirmed.

The advanced fighter was assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron VF-125, famously known as the “Rough Raiders,” a Fleet Replacement Squadron responsible for training aviators on the F-35 platform. The base, located approximately 64 kilometers southwest of Fresno, serves as a major hub for naval aviation operations on the West Coast.

The exact cause of the crash remains unknown. Navy officials have initiated a formal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. No casualties or damage to civilian property were reported in the vicinity.

This marks yet another incident involving the fifth-generation jet, raising fresh concerns over the aircraft’s safety record, despite its cutting-edge stealth, sensor fusion, and combat capabilities.
