Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of senior citizens, saying, “It was my guarantee that the elderly would receive free treatment. The result of that promise is the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana.” Speaking at a public event in Varanasi, the Prime Minister emphasized that the scheme is not only about medical care but also about ensuring the dignity of senior citizens.
The Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana, which provides free treatment to elderly citizens above the age of 70, has already had a significant impact in Varanasi. PM Modi highlighted that nearly 50,000 Vaya Vandana cards have been distributed to the elderly in the city, ensuring that every senior citizen, regardless of their income, is entitled to receive the necessary healthcare.
The scheme is part of the government’s broader effort to improve healthcare access for senior citizens across the country, offering a sense of security and well-being to those who have contributed significantly to society throughout their lives. “This is a promise that guarantees both health and respect for our senior citizens,” Modi added, reiterating his government’s commitment to the elderly population.
