Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan visited Mumbai’s iconic Lalbaugcha Raja on Friday morning and offered prayers to Lord Ganesha as the city continued its Ganeshotsav celebrations.
Radhakrishnan’s visit was part of his scheduled Maharashtra tour, which includes stops in Mumbai, Lonavala and Pune. The Vice-President’s Secretariat had confirmed that he would visit Lalbaugcha Raja during his Mumbai programme.
The office bearers of the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, including Sudhir Salvi and Balasaheb Kambli, welcomed the Vice-President at the famous pandal.
C. P. Radhakrishnan seeks blessings of Lalbaugcha Raja
During his visit, Radhakrishnan offered prayers before Lalbaugcha Raja and sought blessings for the people.
The Vice-President’s official account later shared photographs from the visit on X and described the darshan as a divine experience.
Radhakrishnan also highlighted the significance of Lalbaugcha Raja for Mumbai, describing the famous Ganpati idol as a symbol of the city’s cultural heritage, devotion and community spirit.
He said he prayed to Vighnaharta for the well-being, peace and prosperity of everyone.
Who is C. P. Radhakrishnan?
C. P. Radhakrishnan is the Vice-President of India. He assumed office as the country’s 15th Vice-President in September 2025.
Before becoming Vice-President, Radhakrishnan served as the Governor of Maharashtra. He has also served as Governor of Jharkhand and held several organisational positions in the Bharatiya Janata Party.
His visit to Mumbai on Friday combines religious, cultural and academic engagements across Maharashtra.
Radhakrishnan’s Maharashtra schedule
After visiting Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai, Radhakrishnan is scheduled to travel to Lonavala.
There, he will attend the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gordhandas Seksaria College of Yoga and Cultural Synthesis at Kaivalyadhama.
Later in the evening, he will travel to Pune to attend the 38th edition of the Pune Festival at Shri Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch at Nehru Stadium.
Lalbaugcha Raja draws prominent visitors
Radhakrishnan’s visit comes as several prominent political and public figures have visited Lalbaugcha Raja during this year’s Ganeshotsav.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal also visited the pandal with his family on Friday and offered prayers.
Earlier during the festival, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor were among the prominent visitors to Lalbaugcha Raja. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also visited the pandal with his family.
Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav continues in Mumbai
The 93rd Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav began on September 14 and has attracted large numbers of devotees from Mumbai and other parts of the country.
The celebrations will continue until Anant Chaturdashi on September 25, when devotees across Mumbai will participate in the final immersion processions.
The annual festival at Lalbaugcha Raja remains one of Mumbai’s most prominent Ganeshotsav celebrations, drawing devotees as well as prominent visitors during the festive period.
