Entire Lolab pays a heartfelt tribute to late CDS Bipin Rawat at Chandigam, Kupwara

Srinagar: Condolences poured in from across the Lolab over the sudden, tragic death of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat in a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8. The CDS, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others died when an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi17 V5 helicopter crashed near Coonoor in Nilgiris district of the southern state.

Over 450 people from all walks of life including prominent people, youth, women, government officials and students gathered at Chandigam, Lolab in Kupwara district and offered their condolences following the tragic death of India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 defence personnel in the helicopter crash.

A special prayer followed by wreath laying ceremony was led by Principal of Government Degree College, Sogam; Shafi, Aizaz Ahmad Bhat, SDM Lolab; Aijaz Naikoo, DSP Lolab; BDC Sogam; Deputy BDC Sogam, Mohammad Shafi, Sarpanch, Members and locals of Lolab on Monday evening for General Rawat & his wife. Large number of students, youth, women, sarpanches and ward members were also present in the prayers.
