US President Donald Trump on Friday issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that the United States is “locked and loaded” to respond if Iranian authorities use violence against peaceful demonstrators. The remarks came amid escalating protests across multiple Iranian provinces over surging prices and worsening economic conditions.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump said, “If Iran shoots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Iranian officials quickly condemned Trump’s statement. Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, warned that any foreign interference in Iran would be met with strong retaliation. “Any interventionist hand that attacks Iran’s security under any pretext whatsoever will be exposed to a response. Iran’s security is a red line,” he said on X.

Former Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani, currently secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, accused the US and Israel of stirring the unrest, although no evidence was presented to support the claim. Such allegations are common during periods of domestic dissent in Iran.

Protests have intensified in several provinces as citizens voice frustration over economic hardship, including rising prices and shortages of basic necessities. Demonstrations in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province reportedly turned violent, with protesters clashing with police, throwing stones, and torching vehicles. Fars News Agency reported that authorities confiscated firearms from some individuals, describing them as armed “disturbers.”

At least two people were reported killed during clashes in Lordegan county, though it remains unclear whether the fatalities were protesters or security personnel. Unverified videos circulating online showed confrontations between demonstrators and uniformed police, with buildings including banks and government offices reportedly targeted during the unrest.

These protests represent the most widespread civil unrest in Iran since the nationwide demonstrations in 2022, which followed the death of Mahsa Amini and sparked months of anti-government protests across the country.
