Kupwara: In a significant step towards youth empowerment and national integration, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) marked its expansion in Jammu and Kashmir with a special honors ceremony and the establishment of new units at the 28 Infantry Division Headquarters, Kupwara, on Tuesday.
The event was graced by the Director General of NCC, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, who was the chief guest. He was accompanied by Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, VSM, ADG JK&L Directorate, Brig Atul Tripathi, Dy GOC 28 Infantry Division, and Lt Col S. S. Misquith, Officiating Commanding Officer, 7 J&K Battalion NCC Kupwara.
The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from 150 cadets, 10 principals, and 10 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), reflecting the growing interest among youth from border and remote areas in joining the premier youth organization.
As part of the program, distinguished officers and cadets were honored for their contributions:
- The DG NCC Commendation Card was awarded to First Officer Iftikhar Ahmad Lone, ANO of BHS Tangdhar.
- DG NCC Appreciation Plaques were presented to Dr. Nasrul Islam (GDC Bandipora) and Dr. Bilal Ahmad (GDC Tangdhar).
- DG NCC Medallion Awards were conferred on Cadet Nazrana Ahsan Wani (GDC Bandipora) and Cadet Asaid Zahoor (AGS Tangdhar) for their exemplary leadership and performance.
