New Delhi: Dense fog blanketed the national capital on Wednesday morning, causing significant disruptions to travel. At least nine trains originating from Delhi were running late, and several flights at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were delayed due to reduced visibility.

The delayed trains include Nauchandi Express (14241), Vaishali Express (12553), Kir Asr Express (15707), S Kranti Sup Express (12393), Anvt Garib Rath (22409), and Kashi Vishwanath Express (15127), according to Indian Railways. Passengers have been advised to check updated schedules before traveling.

Morning visuals from various parts of Delhi showed areas enveloped in dense fog, significantly reducing visibility. Akshardham Temple and other iconic landmarks were shrouded in a thin fog layer, while the cold wave persisted, with a minimum temperature of 11°C reported.

Despite the challenging weather, defense personnel continued their parade rehearsal for the 76th Republic Day at Kartavya Path. To mitigate the impact of the cold, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) set up 235 pagoda tents and night shelters for the homeless across the city.

The fog’s effects extended beyond Delhi, disrupting visibility in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of North Rajasthan. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts moderate fog conditions for the day.

Travelers and residents are urged to exercise caution and plan their journeys accordingly as the cold and foggy conditions persist.
