New Delhi: Over 15 trains in northern India have been delayed as dense fog and low visibility continue to disrupt rail services, according to Indian Railways. On Monday morning, several major trains were running significantly behind schedule due to the ongoing inclement weather.
Among the worst affected trains is the Patalkot Express (14623), which has been delayed by 437 minutes, followed by the Unchahar Express (14217), running 380 minutes late. Other delayed services include the Kaifiyat Express (12225), Mahabodhi Express (12397), and S Kranti Superfast Express (12393), with delays ranging from 104 to 158 minutes.
In addition, trains like the Shramjeevi Express (12391), Padmavat Express (14207), and Suhaildev Express (22419) are also facing delays of up to 140 minutes. The Lucknow Mail (12229) and YPR Duronto Express (12213) are running 69 and 68 minutes late, respectively.
Railway officials have taken extra precautions to ensure passenger safety, deploying additional measures amidst the thick fog. Passengers have been advised to check their train schedules regularly before heading to the stations to avoid inconvenience.
The fog has also affected other modes of transportation. In Delhi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.8 degrees Celsius, and a thin layer of fog covered the city early on Monday morning. This weather has led to several flight delays at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport as well.
With the foggy conditions expected to persist, both rail and air travel across the region may continue to face disruptions throughout the day.
