Delhi Police Bust ISI-Linked Terror Module, Four Punjab Men Arrested Over Alleged Attack Plot

The Delhi Police Special Cell has dismantled an alleged Pakistan-backed terror and arms network, arresting four men from Punjab who are accused of planning a terror strike in the national capital. Investigators claim the suspects were operating under the guidance of Pakistan-based handler Shahzad Bhatti and other foreign operatives.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway to identify other people connected to the network.

Weapons And Mobile Phones Seized

During the operation, officers recovered two foreign-made pistols, including a Zigana pistol and a .30 bore pistol, along with nine live cartridges and five mobile phones allegedly used by the accused.

Investigators believe the seized devices may contain crucial evidence regarding the group’s communication and operational planning.

Four Accused Identified

The four arrested men have been identified as:

  • Shubdeep Singh alias Vishal (23) from Tarn Taran, Punjab
  • Gurjant Singh alias Rishi (22) from Tarn Taran, Punjab
  • Sajan Singh alias Honey (28) from Amritsar, Punjab
  • Gaganpreet (24) from Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab

According to police, all four are suspected to have played different roles in the alleged conspiracy.

Operation Began After Intelligence Alert

The investigation began after the Special Cell received intelligence suggesting that Pakistan-based handlers were attempting to recruit young men from Punjab to carry out a terror attack in Delhi-NCR.

Following the tip-off, investigators conducted technical surveillance and carried out multiple raids in Delhi and Punjab before making the arrests.

Police said the first arrest was made in Amritsar, where Shubdeep Singh was allegedly found with a semi-automatic pistol, live cartridges and mobile phones. During questioning, he reportedly disclosed details about his alleged links with Pakistan-based handlers and claimed that weapons and narcotics were being delivered through drones.

The information obtained during interrogation led investigators to arrest Gurjant Singh and Sajan Singh, from whom another foreign-made pistol, ammunition and mobile phones were allegedly recovered.

Accused Allegedly Assigned Reconnaissance Mission

The fourth accused, Gaganpreet, was later arrested in Delhi. Police said his mobile phone contained material considered important to the investigation.

According to investigators, he had allegedly been instructed by Pakistani handlers to conduct reconnaissance of religious sites and police establishments in Delhi. Police also claim he had been assigned to carry out a firing incident in the city.

Investigation Continues

Delhi Police said the probe is continuing to determine the full extent of the alleged terror network, trace additional operatives and uncover any wider conspiracy. Investigators are also examining the digital evidence recovered from the accused and their alleged communication with Pakistan-based handlers.
