Delhi: With Republic Day celebrations approaching, security agencies have tightened the safety grid across the national capital to ensure peaceful and incident-free events. Delhi Police have placed the city under heightened alert, rolling out a multi-layered surveillance plan focused on public participation and intensified monitoring of sensitive locations.
As part of this strategy, law enforcement agencies have put up photographs and details of wanted terror suspects at prominent public places. These include major railway stations, inter-state bus terminals, and densely crowded commercial areas. Officials said the initiative is meant to alert citizens and encourage them to assist security forces by reporting any suspicious sightings.
The displayed posters reportedly feature individuals believed to have links with banned extremist organisations such as Babbar Khalsa, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Al-Qaeda. Given the massive daily footfall at transport hubs, police believe public awareness can play a crucial role in early threat detection.
Key transit points including New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar, and Sarai Rohilla are under constant watch with additional personnel deployed. Major bus terminals like ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Anand Vihar have also seen enhanced security checks. Regular announcements through public address systems are being used to remind commuters to remain vigilant.
Popular shopping areas such as Sarojini Nagar, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Sadar Bazaar, and Paharganj are also covered under the special security plan. According to officials, the aim is to ensure quick identification and reporting if any suspect is noticed in public spaces.
