New Delhi: In a major announcement on International Women’s Day, the Delhi government on Saturday approved the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’, which promises ₹2,500 per month to women in the national capital.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed the cabinet’s decision, stating, “Today, on Women’s Day, our cabinet has approved the scheme – a promise we made during the Delhi elections.” She added that ₹5,100 crore has been allocated in the Delhi budget for its implementation, and a dedicated portal for registrations will be launched soon.
The BJP-led Delhi government had pledged this scheme in its election manifesto, surpassing AAP’s offer of ₹2,100 per month. Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that a committee comprising Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, and Pravesh Verma has been formed to finalize the eligibility criteria.
