New Delhi: In a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), senior leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia conceded defeat in the Jangpura Assembly seat against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah. Marwah secured victory with a lead of 600 votes, overturning early trends that had shown Sisodia leading by 3,869 votes.

Speaking to the media after his defeat, Sisodia acknowledged the support he received from the people and expressed hope that the newly elected representative would work for the betterment of the constituency. “Party workers fought well; we all worked hard. People supported us as well. But I lost by 600 votes. I congratulate the winning candidate and hope he will serve the constituency,” he stated.

Sisodia, a key figure in AAP and one of its founding members, had earlier won three consecutive terms from Patparganj before contesting from Jangpura this time. His loss comes as part of a larger trend, with AAP facing significant electoral setbacks in Delhi.

According to the latest Election Commission updates, the BJP is on track to reclaim power in the national capital, leading in 45 out of 70 assembly seats, while AAP struggles to maintain its hold. The results mark a major shift in Delhi’s political landscape, signaling a tough road ahead for the Kejriwal-led party.
