New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is on the verge of defeat from the prestigious New Delhi constituency, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Parvesh Verma maintaining a strong lead. According to the latest data from the Election Commission, Verma is ahead by 1,800 votes, with just two rounds of counting left.
As per the current tally, Kejriwal has secured 20,190 votes, while Verma has garnered 22,034 votes after 11 rounds of counting. If the trend continues, this will mark a historic loss for the AAP supremo, who has represented the New Delhi seat since 2013.
Meanwhile, BJP is poised for a major victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, leading in 45 out of the 70 constituencies. The trends indicate a significant shift in voter sentiment, with AAP struggling to retain its dominance in the national capital.
Kejriwal’s anticipated defeat is a major setback for AAP, which has been battling corruption allegations and governance issues in recent months. With counting nearing its final stages, all eyes are now on the official results that will determine Delhi’s political future.
