Delhi’s Deepak Gupta Successfully Conquers India’s Toughest 75km Ultra Trail Obstacle Race

Bahadurgarh / New Delhi: In a remarkable display of endurance, grit, and mental resilience, Delhi-based athlete Deepak Gupta, representing the Garmin Run Club, successfully completed one of India’s most demanding endurance competitions — the 75-kilometre Ultra Trail Obstacle Run under the prestigious Deathman Series.

Widely regarded as India’s toughest obstacle-based ultra-marathon, the race tested participants across punishing terrains, steep elevation gains, and physically exhausting obstacle challenges. The grueling route stretched from Dehradun to Dhanaulti (Devmalta), covering a massive elevation gain of 2243 metres through rugged Himalayan trails.

Deepak Gupta’s achievement stands out not merely for completing the ultra-distance challenge, but for overcoming a series of extreme physical tasks integrated into the course. Participants were required to endure multiple obstacle segments designed to push human limits under fatigue and harsh conditions.

The competition included:

  • 500m Flame Carry: Carrying heavy weight while crossing through fire-lined paths.
  • Tyre Carry: Long-distance hauling of heavy tyres across uphill terrain.
  • Back Carry Challenge: Running with significant additional load strapped to the body.
  • River Crossing & Plank Obstacles: Demanding exceptional balance, core strength, and stamina during extreme exhaustion.

By successfully finishing the event, Deepak Gupta joined an elite category of endurance athletes capable of completing one of the country’s harshest ultra-trail obstacle races.

The event also witnessed strong performances by renowned endurance athletes including Gulab Singh and Colonel Krishna Badhwar, both of whom secured top positions in the competition.

Deepak’s performance reflects the growing enthusiasm for ultra-running, endurance sports, and obstacle racing within the Delhi-NCR fitness community. Over the last few years, India’s endurance sports culture has expanded rapidly, with athletes increasingly participating in ultra-marathons, trail races, and military-style obstacle events.
