Srinagar: The 162 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a free medical camp at Government Upper Primary School (GUPS), Audoora Qalamabad in the Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday. The initiative, aimed at providing medical assistance to the local population, saw the participation of over 250 individuals, including children, women, and the elderly, who were treated and given free medicines.
The camp was inaugurated by Second-in-Command of 162 Battalion P K Lal, along with Deputy Commandant Surender Pal, Assistant Commandant Amit Kumar, and other senior CRPF officials.
In his address, Second-in-Command P K Lal highlighted that such medical camps are part of the CRPF’s social responsibility initiatives, aimed at identifying and supporting the needy sections of society in the battalion’s operational areas. He emphasized that while the primary role of the CRPF is to maintain internal security, the force remains committed to assisting the public in all possible ways, especially through healthcare services.
“Even though our main responsibility is internal security, we are always ready to extend help to the public through medical camps. This unit will continue to organize such camps in the future to support the local community,” P K Lal stated.
He further mentioned that these medical camps are not only a means to provide healthcare but also help in fostering better relations and trust between the security forces and the local population.
Sandeep Sharma, the medicine in-charge, was also present and distributed free medicines to the attendees during the camp.
The event received widespread appreciation from the locals, who expressed gratitude for the initiative, which highlights the CRPF’s efforts to assist and serve the community beyond its primary role of maintaining security.
