The Pakistan National Assembly witnessed high drama on Friday as a Member of Parliament erupted in fury, branding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a “Buzdil” (coward) for failing to respond decisively to recent Indian airstrikes and for allegedly being too afraid to even utter Indian PM Narendra Modi’s name.
In an outburst, a Pakistani MP slammed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as 'Buzdil' (coward), accusing him of lacking the courage to even utter Prime Minister @narendramodi's name. “When an army is led by a lion, they fight. But if an army is led by a vulture, it loses the war. Our chief is so cowardly that he cannot even take Modi’s name. How do we expect him to motivate the Army?” the MP said during his fiery address, drawing gasps and murmurs across the Assembly floor. The comments highlighted a deepening political and military crisis in the wake of India’s targeted strikes under “Operation Sindoor.”
The MP’s outburst comes amid growing discontent within Pakistan over what many see as inaction and confusion by the country’s leadership during one of its gravest national security challenges.
On Thursday night, a series of powerful explosions were reported in at least 12 Pakistani cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Bahawalpur, Miyano, and Chor. The blasts triggered panic, with one explosion reportedly occurring just 20 km from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s residence in Islamabad.
Military sources within Pakistan have unofficially blamed drone attacks for the devastation, with speculation linking the strikes to Indian retaliation following the Pahalgam massacre in Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, Rawalpindi—home to Pakistan’s military nerve centre, the General Headquarters (GHQ)—was among the cities impacted, raising alarm about vulnerabilities at the core of the country’s defence infrastructure.
