Baramati: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar sparked a political controversy during a recent visit to his home constituency of Baramati. Speaking to the crowd while receiving a memorandum, Pawar made an unconventional remark about his relationship with voters, stating that they were not his “boss” simply because they had elected him.

“Just because you voted for me, it doesn’t mean you have become my boss or owner. Have you made me a farm labourer now?” Pawar said, drawing the attention of both supporters and critics alike.

The controversial statement comes amid ongoing political discussions about the future of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which has recently seen division within its ranks. On January 3, the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP firmly ruled out the possibility of reuniting with the Sharad Pawar-led faction, asserting their political independence.

The NCP, under Ajit Pawar’s leadership, has strengthened its ties with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the national level and the Mahayuti coalition in Maharashtra. Maharashtra NCP chief Sunil Tatkare reiterated that the party’s alliance with the BJP remains steadfast, despite rising speculation about potential shifts in the political landscape.

“Our party is firmly allied with the NDA at the Centre and MahaYuti in the state. Under Ajit Pawar’s leadership, the NCP has achieved significant electoral victories. There is no rethinking on this stand,” Tatkare said in a recent press interaction.

When questioned about the possibility of a reconciliation with the Sharad Pawar faction, Tatkare responded by avoiding speculation. “There are no ifs and buts in politics,” he added, signaling that any talks of reunification were not on the agenda for the NCP.
