Guwahati: In a shocking incident, Congress MP Rakibul Hussain was attacked by masked miscreants while attending a public program in Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday. The Dhubri MP was seen fleeing the spot on a two-wheeler, wearing a helmet for protection, as his security officers sustained minor injuries. A viral video of the attack shows miscreants waving black flags before launching their assault.
Following the incident, Hussain slammed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of “illegal and arbitrary interferences” in investigations, which he claimed had emboldened criminals. Taking to X, he wrote, “HCM Assam, @himantabiswa You are neither the case registering authority nor the Investigating Authority under the BNSS, 2023. Your illegal and arbitrary interferences in investigations of earlier cases also boosted these miscreants and goons to do heinous crimes repeatedly.”
