“Congress Keeps Making Excuses”: PM Modi Says Party Lacks Courage To Face Its Own Decline

Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday delivered a scathing political attack on the Congress party, accusing it of failing to understand the real reasons behind its continuous electoral decline and lacking the courage to introspect honestly.

Addressing a gathering, PM Modi said the Congress has been steadily losing its political ground across the country but has refused to conduct a genuine internal review. According to him, the party prefers to blame circumstances and external factors rather than confront uncomfortable truths about its leadership and functioning.

Using strong words, the Prime Minister directly linked the Congress party’s weakening position to what he described as the dominance of one family over the organisation. He said that a sincere review would inevitably raise serious questions about the party’s power structure, which is why such an exercise is deliberately avoided.

PM Modi said, “Today, the Congress has been reduced to struggling even for a hundred seats. Congress has never conducted an honest review of this continuous decline. Because if they do review it and identify the reasons for their downfall, questions would be raised about the very family that has taken control of the Congress. That is why they keep making excuses. They have even lost the courage to search for the real reasons behind their decline….”

The Prime Minister said this lack of self-reflection has left the Congress disconnected from the aspirations of the people. He added that instead of reforming itself, the party repeatedly shifts blame and avoids accountability, further deepening its crisis.
