During the second day of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad, the Congress party made a fervent call for unity among citizens, irrespective of their ideological and party affiliations, with the aim of “overthrowing” what they characterized as a “dictatorial government” to protect and preserve democracy.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the national chief of the Congress party, urged all leaders and party workers at every level to engage regularly with the public and attentively listen to their concerns. This initiative is part of the party’s preparations for the upcoming national election slated for the following year.

Kharge emphasized that this is a critical moment for the nation. Over the past decade, he argued, the challenges faced by ordinary citizens have multiplied under the rule of the BJP. He asserted that the Prime Minister has failed to address the issues affecting the poor, farmers, laborers, women, and youth, instead focusing primarily on himself.

“In such circumstances, we cannot remain passive observers. We must unite and overthrow this dictatorial government to safeguard our democracy,” Kharge declared.

Sonia Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Congress party, also implored party leaders to exercise self-restraint and refrain from making comments in the media that could be detrimental to the interests of the Congress. The party has already released a list of journalists and media organizations with whom they will no longer engage.

Kharge stressed the necessity of tirelessly working together, setting aside personal interests and differences. He emphasized that prioritizing the party’s success and working in unity and discipline are essential for defeating their political adversaries. He cited the example of Karnataka, where unity and discipline led to success.

It’s important to note that the Congress is a key component of the newly formed opposition bloc known as INDIA. However, this coalition faces internal challenges, as some of the parties within it are political rivals in various states, as acknowledged by the BJP.
