Uttarkashi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has confirmed large-scale devastation following a powerful cloudburst and continuous heavy rainfall in the region. The natural calamity has severely impacted the area, triggering landslides and cutting off road access.
“This disaster has caused a lot of damage. The entire area has been devastated. A cloudburst occurred here, and heavy rainfall took place,” said CM Dhami, addressing the scale of destruction.
One of the most immediate challenges following the disaster was the blockage of roads due to landslides. “The road has been completely affected by landslides,” he stated, indicating that rescue teams are working under extremely difficult conditions.
Despite the destruction, emergency rescue efforts began immediately. “190 people were rescued immediately on the same day… So far, 274 people have been rescued,” the Chief Minister reported, praising the swift actions of emergency services.
In addition to rescue missions, relief operations are also underway. “Food supplies are being sent there,” Dhami confirmed, noting that logistical support is being managed continuously to aid those trapped or displaced.
