Class XI admissions suspended due to SC order on Maratha reservation

New timeframe for admissions to be declared after studying SC order

Mumbai: The admission procedure of Class XI has been suspended midway, following the order of Supreme Court on the reservation of the Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC). Further admission process and a new time table will be decided by the state government after receiving and studying the written order of the SC, informed Dinkar Patil, director of Education (secondary and higher secondary).

About 1,46275 students have already taken admission in Maharastra in the first year of junior college. This includes about 78635 students in the Mumbai division. About 116589 students took admission in the first round of admissions.

The allotment list of the Round-2 was to be declared on the morning of September 10 as part of the centralised admission process but that has been held back for now. It is still unclear what will happen to the students who have already got admissions in the first round of the process. A note about this has been put up on the website 11thadmission.org.in

The admission process had been much delayed this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic as also due to the introduction of reservation for the Marathas under the 12% of seats reserved in educational institutions for the SEBC.
