The city civil court dealt a blow to Shinova Shukla’s quest for validation on Friday, rejecting her plea for a DNA examination to substantiate her assertion that BJP Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan is her biological father.

While the court opted to defer further proceedings on her suit, Shukla had implored the court to mandate a DNA profiling to confirm her claim. However, the interim plea was dismissed, with the court issuing notices to Kishan, his spouse, and others, soliciting their responses. The next hearing on the matter is slated for July 23, prolonging the legal saga surrounding Shukla’s paternity assertion.

Shukla’s paternity claim stems from allegations made last Saturday, asserting her lineage to Kishan through her mother, Aparna Soni. She initiated legal action by filing a suit before a civil court at Dindoshi, seeking a DNA test to substantiate her claims. According to her submission, Soni and Kishan purportedly engaged in a relationship and wedded in 1991, albeit facing impediments in cohabitation due to personal strife. Shukla alleges that her mother, a journalist, encountered Kishan in 1998, coinciding with her birth. Upon discovering Kishan’s marital status, Soni and Kishan purportedly instructed Shukla to address him as “uncle.”

However, the controversy escalated when Soni and Shukla’s attempt to extend felicitations to Kishan ahead of the elections ended in acrimony, with Kishan allegedly displaying hostility and declining to meet them. Subsequently, Soni and Shukla convened a press conference, divulging Shukla’s claimed lineage to Kishan, prompting Kishan’s wife to lodge a formal complaint. In response, a case was registered in Lucknow under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, fabricating false evidence, extortion, and intentional insult.

The legal tussle underscores the complexity and sensitivity surrounding paternity disputes, further compounded by the involvement of high-profile individuals in the political arena. As the case unfolds, it promises to shed light on the intricacies of personal relationships and the legal mechanisms for adjudicating contested claims of parentage.
