BEIJING: The 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) showcased how green technologies are transforming global trade in services. With a focus on sustainability, companies from around the world displayed innovative solutions that promote low-carbon and environmentally friendly development.
At CIFTIS, held in Beijing from September 10 to 14 under the theme “Embrace Intelligent Technologies, Empower Trade in Services”, nearly 2,000 exhibitors participated, representing more than 20 of the world’s top countries in services trade.
Visitors explored a range of green innovations, including new energy storage technologies, interactive waste-sorting bins, unmanned weed-cutting boats, and intelligent street-cleaning vehicles.
Beistar CZ, a Czech company making its CIFTIS debut, presented a cost-effective energy storage system that converts surplus electricity into thermal energy, storing it safely in hot-air units. George Jermakov, technology director at Beistar CZ, praised China’s open business environment and strong commitment to sustainability.
Australian company Sencity demonstrated TestraBin, an interactive garbage-sorting bin with sensors and digital animations that reward correct waste disposal, making recycling more engaging and fun.
Chinese companies also highlighted homegrown green solutions. Beijing Environment Sanitation Group showcased an unmanned street-sweeping vehicle capable of cleaning 6,000 square meters per hour and offering consulting services to countries including Mongolia, Pakistan, Laos, Bangladesh, and Chad. The fair also displayed an unmanned weed-cutting vessel with smart growth simulation systems to optimize aquatic plant removal.
Huatong Technology attracted attention with its zero-carbon industrial park solutions, integrating renewable energy sources, clean transport, and energy-monitoring platforms. With over 10,000 projects completed in China, the company focuses on reducing carbon emissions across industrial, cultural, and agricultural parks.
China’s services trade surpassed 1 trillion U.S. dollars in 2024 and grew nearly 8.2 percent in the first seven months of 2025, reaching about 644.9 billion U.S. dollars. The sector is shifting toward knowledge-intensive, innovative, and value-added services, moving beyond traditional logistics.
Jeffrey Sachs, chairman of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, praised China as a global leader in green technology, highlighting its role in wind, solar, and zero-carbon power solutions. He emphasized that China’s capacity can help accelerate the world’s urgent environmental transformation.
CIFTIS 2025 demonstrated that green technology and intelligent solutions are becoming key drivers of international cooperation and sustainable growth in global services trade.
