“China Guru Taking Tuitions from Chinese Ambassador”: Jaishankar’s Sharp Attack on Rahul Gandhi Amid Doklam, Trade, and Strategic Tensions

New Delhi: In a scathing critique aimed directly at Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Wednesday intensified his accusations of Congress’s questionable China links, sarcastically branding Gandhi as the “new China Guru.”

Speaking during a public interaction, Jaishankar alleged that during the 2017 Doklam standoff — a tense military face-off between India and China — Rahul Gandhi chose to be briefed by the Chinese Ambassador rather than the Indian Government or the Ministry of External Affairs.

“The Doklam crisis was ongoing. Our military was facing the Chinese on the ground. At such a time, the Leader of Opposition chose not to consult the Government of India or the Ministry of External Affairs. Instead, he sought a private briefing from the Chinese Ambassador. This is how the ‘China Guru’ prefers to operate,” Jaishankar said in a veiled but pointed remark.

The Foreign Minister’s comments echoed his previous charges against the Congress. Just a week ago, on July 25, he reignited a long-standing controversy by accusing the Congress Party of maintaining “secret agreements” with the Chinese Communist Party — deals, he claimed, that have repeatedly undermined India’s sovereignty.

He cited the 1962 India-China war as a direct consequence of flawed Congress-era foreign policies, stating, “The Congress party’s historical failures led to massive territorial losses and a diplomatic disadvantage that India had to battle for decades. Even today, they seem more sympathetic to Beijing’s narrative than India’s own strategic concerns.”
