Mumbai: In a key political development in Maharashtra, senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister on Tuesday, marking a significant reshuffle in Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s five-month-old government. The ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, where Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath.

The 77-year-old Bhujbal’s induction comes in the wake of former minister Dhananjay Munde’s resignation earlier this year. Munde, who headed the food, civil supplies, and consumer protection department, stepped down in March after his close associate Walmik Karad was arrested in connection with the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.

Bhujbal, a seasoned political figure with decades of administrative experience, welcomed the responsibility. “As it is said, ‘everything is well if it ends well’. I have handled every responsibility, from the home ministry to everything. Whatever responsibility I’ll be given, that will be alright. It’s the prerogative of the CM,” Bhujbal told reporters after taking the oath.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde lauded Bhujbal’s return to the cabinet, saying, “He is an experienced leader… I congratulate him and the state government will greatly benefit from his experience…”
